Kale-Ribbean Breeze  Price Breakdown

The Kale-Ribbean Breeze  is a great example of Jamba Juice's inclusion of something other than fruit in their popular smoothies. You'll find kale, chia seeds, and greek yogurt mixed with mango and passion fruit in this concoction to add even more nutritive elements to your frozen drink. But it comes at a pretty high price point.

After searching several locations nationwide, a small 16 oz. smoothie costs between $5.00 and $6.00. We'll use an average price of $5.50 to compare costs of the homemade recipe below.

Homemade Copycat Recipe

Rather than spend money on gas driving to the nearest Jamba Juice, why not make their tasty creations in the comfort of your own home? They're simple to make and you can find the ingredients at your local grocery store. You can even buy some ingredients, like chia seeds, in larger quantities to have around instead of needing to grab them each time you want a Kale-Ribbean Breeze.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large mango*
  • ½ cup kale leaves*
  • 1 cup passion fruit juice
  • 5.3 ounces plain greek yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon chia seeds

*Prep:

  • Peel and dice mango, then freeze
  • Remove any stems from kale leaves

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Optional: Add ice for desired consistency.

The amount of plain greek yogurt in this recipe is the same as a single serving you see at the grocery store. Feel free to use more or less of any ingredients to your taste. This may change the value of your at home smoothie but is likely to still be more cost effective than a visit to Jamba Juice.
